The silence of the night wouldn't let Sam sleep. It was 4:07 in the morning, almost an hour earlier to the rendezvous. Sam didn't sleep well that night, she tossed and turned and was having night sweats even though cool breeze was coming from the window. This is how it happened; she slept and woke up again at 1, then forced herself to sleep and woke up 45 minutes later. She gave up trying to sleep at 3:30. She lay on her side staring at the view of the window, her room and the glowing digital clock. There is nothing to be nervous she would tell herself hundreds of times in her sleep, but she couldn't help that her body is in the state of fight or flight. Her eyes were wide open, she was slightly sweaty, her breathings were heavy and her heart beat was fast. She couldn't take it any longer, she got up slowly to not have a massive disorientation in her head and sat for a while. She wore her glasses and reached for her ipod to use it as a flash light. She first got into the bathroom to wash off her sweats; she wouldn't want to smell while confessing to her true love. She opened the water with slow tempo to not disturb her mother and Serena for they lived in an apartment. After a quick shower she brushed her teeth as quietly as she could and changed into her jeans and a t-shirt with printed lace bow at the top, then started breakfast. She couldn't do much while Serena was sleeping on the couch in the living room so she pulled out apple juice from the fridge quietly and got some biscuit from the cabinet. It wasn't much but she couldn't go there with an empty stomach. She got her cell phone and her ipod and left a note on the kitchen table. She got her silently closed the door behind her and walked down the hallway, down the fire escape and out of the building. The rendezvous point wasn't really far but not really near. She looked for the bicycle that didn't belong to anyone in building. She found it behind the parking area and started peddling towards her destination. The town was really quiet, almost like in zombies movies town quiet. Street cleaner were picking up the mess from yesterday's party filled night as Sam kept peddling through the streets. The bridge is out of the towns border that goes onto the field and into the shores. It's over a river that goes into the sea. Sam reached the fields and rested the bicycle on the fence, she discovered that there's another bicycle resting on the fence. She figured that Stuart got there first, and he wanted to over it soon. Her heart began to beat strongly as she left the bicycle lean on the fence. She ran through the fields headed for the bridge frantically, thinking nothing but him, how he looks ridiculously in his cloths, how he smiles, how he made her happy and laugh and how he made her stern personality leaner. She was still running though her legs got tired and was out of breath until she's meters away from the bridge. She stopped, caught her breath and relaxed. She saw a tall figure pacing over the bridge; she smiled and took that last energy of hers to sprint at start of the bridge. Stuart heard the wooden steps turn quickly to Sam. Both of them were silent, she noticed that he wasn't wearing any crazy patterns like usual, his hands were in his pockets of grey pants and wearing a black t-shirt with a batman logo. He had messy bed hair and a concerned face. Sam walked up to him and paused. Waiting for anyone to speak out, Sam took the first turn.

"Your here early."

Stu nodded. "You too."

Then there was stillness between them for a while. Both of them are thinking what to say next.

"So, us? You said that over the phone."

"Yeah, I umm..." She swallowed her dry mouth. ".. you see Sketch I.. I ahh.." This is harder than she thought it would be.

"If this sneaking around, pretending and stuff is wearing you off, I mean you could pull the plug off and.. you won't be stressin' out.."

"What ?! No no Sketch." Sam took a deep breath and sighed. "I want to keep our friendship but .. this will be hard to tell you this". She brushed her bangs and began pacing.

"Look Sam, don't worry I'll be fine, wont you? Wait ! Wait .. I guess maybe if we banged our heads so hard we won't remember each other. See? There's your solution!". Sam looked at him bewildered as he kept blabbering. "We have amnesia so we won't remember each other and we forget that we talked together and ignore naturally and ... wait if we have amnesia, what if we don't remember our names.. what if we don't remember where we live, our family, our childhood and the test that I'm supposed to study for.." Sam couldn't take it anymore; she mustered her guts and shouted out load.

"I have feelings for you!"

Stuart immediately stopped listing the things they'll forget. Surprised, he stood there like a statue.

"I have feelings for you" she repeated but in a gentle voice. "You make me happy, and I think you're cute and Oh my God no no no, wait umm". She turned her back on him not wanting to see his reaction. "I want to be with you, I like being with you, you made me enjoy life. I mean from the first time I saw you... wait no not from the FIRST time I saw you, you repulsed me!" Then she faced him. "I mean no no, but please you were wearing that god awful sweater I mean WHO wears those kinds of colors and those glasses , ugh and you were super annoying in class and really you were getting on my nerves and I was this close to strangle you and .. oh my god I'm blabbering now.. guess this contagious because YOU wouldn't stop talking you're all like "bladyy bladyy blah blah blah" and I mean zip it up ! And .. ohmygodohmygodohmygod I'm sorry, I'msorryI'msorryI'msorryI'msorry" She began to tear up and buried her face with her hands and her glasses fell off. This is not how it's supposed to be she thought. Everything is ruined.

"Ditto." said Stuart smiling.

Sam looked up to him with her glossy almond shaped eyes. Did .. did he say "I have feelings for you too" in one simple word?

"Huh?" Sam stared at him puzzled.

"Well not at the rest, but ... actually," He started to get flush. ", from the first time I saw you.. I... I thought you were short."

Sam giggled and wiped her tears. "and .." he walked and picked up her fallen glasses. "and I noticed your eyes... they were beautiful." He said as he held her cheek and wiped off the tears with his thumb. "and then when the day went on, I thought you were smart, and funny.. wait you didn't have any sense of humour back then." Sam laughed and nodded.

"You got that right." She smiled

"And I liked how you were independent; I like a girl who can take care of herself and how you were persistent and pro at what you're doin'." Then he used both of his big hands to lift up her face. "And from that day, I couldn't stop thinking about you."
Sam felt time was slowing down as she was in his arms, she felt the warmness in his hands on her cheeks, she held the big and lean hand cupping her cheek with her tiny hand. She buried herself into Stuart. She laid her head against his chest, and held his arms. Stuart leaned on her placing his head lightly over hers and embracing her. None of them wanted for this moment to pass. What seemed eternal were only few minutes.

"Soooo... are going keep this hugging because it's romantic or its cold outside?" asked Stuart

Sam laughed at the true fact and said "Both but mainly its cold outside."
Each took a moment to laugh about it, then both laughed their hearts out and kept each other warm.

"And what gonna happen when we go back, should we keep our distance?

"Are you serious Sketch?! You want us to ignore each other after we confessed?! " Sam said out load as she broke the embrace.

"Yeah but them .."

"Who cares!! I like you!! I reallyreallyreally like you, and I don't care what they think, I can't, I won't do this because some idiots is gonna joke about us !! I've been selfish when we kept out distance when we were friends, I don't want be more selfish. I want to be with you!"

Then Sam ran to him and wrapped her arms around his neck tip-toeing to reach him. Stuart held her, never wanting to let go of her.

"Hey look" said Stuart facing the glowing horizon. "The sun is going to rise."

"So?" Sam looked at the dawn light

"Should we kiss?"said Stuart without any embarrassment

"What?!" Sam blushed but then smiled. This moment reminds her of Pride and Prejudice the movie, where Elizabeth and Mr Darcy met together at dawn in some field, and confessed to each other. She couldn't believe that this is happening right now with Stuart.

"Well... I kinda rushed right?" Stuart scratched the back of his head.

"No no, it's just that I don't like clichés, I mean... well the kiss at sunset is clichéd but I think kiss at sunrise is more romantic... I guess because it's a start of something, something beautiful. Ugh I don't know." Sam crossed her arms

"How about a quick one?"

Sam laughed nervously. "I don't think it's a good idea, no." she shook her head

"What's the worst could happen?" he said with a heat warming smile.

That smile. That stupid smile of his. She thought that he looked like a child smiling like that, and somehow she liked it, actually she loved how he smiles in the good times and the bad times. She loved how he was the bright side in every situation, even though sometimes he started the fault.

"Yeah, okay. What's the worst could happen, right? Okay so on the count of three". She got nearer and hooked her arms around his neck and tipped-toed.
Stuart chuckled "You're short"

"Shut up and let's get over it"

"Okay" he laughed to himself quietly

Each took their moment to look at each other, stare at each other. Stuart put his hand at her lower back so she would be in balance, and used his other hand to brush her bangs revealing her hazel eyes. She closed her eyes and started the count down

"1..2.."

All of a sudden she felt warm lips against hers, obviously Stuart wanted to surprise her. She widened her eyes and closed them once again. It's strange how moments like this time slow down. Her brain slowed down time so she could savour this moment, this precious moment, this 3 second moment. Stuart broke the kiss and waited for Sam's reaction. He thought that she'll ramble how they should've did on time but to his surprise she smiled and both them laughed happily and embraced once again.

"That wasn't so bad now was it?"

"Yeah" she smiled

Their faces were close again, causing discomfort and awkwardness between.

"Hey, let's not push this."

"Take it slow right?"

Stuart nodded. Sam finally stand normally and let go of him but still clinging on to his arm. They stepped at the edge and looked at the warm sun rise.

"Hey Sam."

"Yes." She faced him quickly

This opportunity to tell each other "I love you" was hanging thinly by a thread. He was ready to announce it but interrupted by a load growling thunder of his stomach. Both of them stood still as they were and their face wanted to burst out of laughter. Shortly after his stomach to quiet down, he said "I'm hungry"

She giggled and said "Let's find a place to eat, shall we ?". And they started to walk to their bicycles.

Then a realization came to Stuart. "So is this going to be our first date."

Sam took a moment to also realize this. "Yeah, this our first date." She smiled at that thought.

Walking through the open field, crushing the freshly cut grass and smelling the freshness of the morning, it was a tranquil scene.

"RACE YA TO THE BIKES !!" Stuart shouted as he got into the head start towards the fences.

"Wha- what?!". From the tone of her voice she didn't like the idea. "HEY YOU GET BACK HERE AND WALK ME TO BICYCLE LIKE A GENTLE MAN !!". She grunted and began running to catch him. While Stuart knows his demise very well, he needed to get a place to eat fast or he'll die right on the spot. He slowed down and got pounced by the tiny American-French girl. They continued walking to their bicycle, Stuart giving her a piggy back ride.

Sam rested her head on back of his and mutely said "I love you". Though she wanted to say it out load, she was tired from all of this. Waking up from a not so good night sleep, anxiously peddling through the streets, and standing up to her lover and bravely confess her feelings towards him and chasing after him across the fields got her worn out. She wondered if Stuart went through what she went through to confess, probably worse because he got there first and God knows how longs he's been waiting in the cold morning.

Both of them were relieved and content and got on to their bicycle and rode side by side.

This was a start of a beautiful relationship.
And now the conclusion. Enjoy :)
